Because when I’m untrue to me, I don’t like myself. I never trusted a false friend yet have recognized when I have reluctantly accommodated someone else’s agenda I have abandoned my own real purposes. Turns out I have been more false than I ever meant to be. What damage does that do to the human being I am charged with being most faithful to–myself? If I’m not aligned with my own center, what good can I do in the world?
